Astronauts Celebrate Thanksgiving on Mars
The crew of Galahad-1 celebrated Thanksgiving on Mars, marking the first time the holiday was celebrated on the red planet. Despite being far from home, the crew made the most of their Thanksgiving celebration with a feast featuring traditional dishes like turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce, as well as some Mars-inspired additions like freeze-dried vegetables.
The crew also took some time to reflect on what they were thankful for during their mission on Mars. Commander Jason Smith expressed gratitude for the incredible opportunity to explore another planet and the teamwork that made their mission possible. Flight engineer Maria Hernandez gave thanks for the chance to conduct groundbreaking research on the red planet, and geologist David Lee expressed his appreciation for the incredible landscapes and geological features he had the chance to study.
The Galahad-1 crew also took a moment to send a message back to Earth, wishing their loved ones and everyone on Earth a happy Thanksgiving. Despite being millions of miles away, the crew felt a sense of connection with the people back home as they celebrated the holiday in their own unique way on the red planet.
